we build anything

I'm not kidding - they really do

two characters appear in front of us in this scenario

Noah

seems personable enough but may have had a new guitar design injury above his left eye.

Thao

she may new guitar design me to death! part of me thinks that this person uses modules - and modular as a weapon.

am I talking through my ass? look at this

even in prototype stage exchangeable necks. exchangeable scale length.

I would love to play my newly designed guitar in their fitted out caravan.

maybe go to this link

go have a look around

too much to talk about here.

well this is stating the obvious 2

I love this one and I know it has been around for some time.

maybe we could apply the same theorem to promoters.

a piece of history

I know that this design has been around for a long time.

It needs to be said that there is great merit in being the first

plus going to the website is such an amazing adventure

Ebow

now I own two of these and I love them to death

I also know someone who owns every one of these.

Including the silver Ebow.

I hate this person. I am filled with an insane jealous rage every time I see it.

and he knows that.

plus I know what you are doing when you put all five in a row with the silver one first. you are just plain annoying.

the thing I love the most is playing it with a slide. plus I have the dual mode Ebow plus that switches to upper register harmonics.

look at these prototypes!

plus people are using them in new ways all the time.

I would be a bit slack if I didn't include a film clip

take some time out of your day and have a look around at the Ebow site

now here is a dilemma 2

another design I am falling hopelessly in love with.

there is probably a newer way of doing things, but that is a moot point.

a few spare parts and a trip or two to radio shack.

and you end up with an amazing design.

damn it - it works and it works so well.

the latest revision of the Rocker.

mmm....duct tape. rubber bands. rca explosion!!!!

 the signal path

so simple. so elegant

plus here is a designer not sitting on his hands

we are looking at updated versions

this is only the start of great things

Jeremy is not only the real deal

he is THE MAN!!!!!!

Friday, 6 February 2015

well this is stating the obvious

and well said. yet it is manifest all over the world.

share

now here is a dilemma

maybe you should look at this

the eternal dilemma

Is this an effect? or a tactile tool?

delay is used

but I am going with the whole tactile tool thing

but leaves me with the eternal dilemma

WTF?

It obviously is external

but It Is tactile

an Ebow is tactile

and I have talked about sustainer systems

Jeremy Bell is the designer

don't take up the debate with him

just celebrate his designs

and here

It makes sense

to me.

an update from one of our friends

someone has been busy

and I am so happy for this

a pathetic excuse to look at sexy guitars

now there is no CNC machine work here

we love CNC at new guitar designs

but there is nothing wrong with a bit of old fashioned pre-fabrication

Ali Kat Guitars have updated their website

and added a few designs

based on a motor cycle theme

front - looks like filter trons

back - even painted one of the holy grail of new guitar design materials, carbon fiber

with tail lights!

 Yamaha theme

the gas tank of a hog! look at the controls!

I have no idea if I have featured this design before. what are those pickups? plus it has a bigsby.

then there is this. where does this guy get his parts from?

this is just a short overview!

go to Ali Kat Guitars for the whole story

be sure to check out the videos

this changes everything 3

I KNOW I can't stop talking about this but I have no desire to consign this design to history

as per the method, add "design" to "guitar" and "new"

maybe a few videos to get the ball rolling.

I like the chimes of the melody chords. then the sustain section.

even a sequence of two harmonics.

shameless picture of the interface

I didn't see the power plug before

after all that, let's update some information

quotes from the man himself.

the serial port is for debugging, not for customer use.  the mystery port shall have to remain a mystery for now.  the BlueTooth interface is how GUI extensions such as sound design and librarians will be implemented.

note the current presets and button definitions are entirely firmware defined.  we do have firmware release II ready, and with the next production run of the Vo-96 we'll be shipping the new firmware which has 3 whole sets of behaviors where the current UI definition is but one set.  I have just scratched the surface of what is possible with this technology.  It's as new and unexplored as the first analog synths were in the `60s.  People are STILL designing new sounds with synths today.  So there is a long long path ahead.

the following self - serving statement was deleted. we KNOW this is brilliant!!!

but I love this statement

The Vo-96  instantiates 16 virtual harmonic control systems per string and clearly demonstrates detailed individual and independent amplitude control of every significant harmonic component of each string's vibration.  It thereby performs additive synthesis within the physical guitar strings - it's physical, more real than analog. there is nothing even close to being this as far as groundbreaking goes.  people just don't understand how different a thing this is -- which is understandable of course.  I'm not complaining, but I am stating a reality that I hope will one day be more generally recognized.

well, we are CELEBRATING your efforts now

just go read up about this.

this changes everything 2

look at this - after scratching beneath the surface

the controller module contains the following

a mystery connector? talk about covering all your bases!

what kind of port is that?

a Bluetooth antenna to update controls and programming via an Interface?

as I said, early days yet but I am sure looking forward to that Interface

serial port?

I think that we are going to have a part three

what do you need a serial port for?

what DON'T you need a serial port for?

the variables are becoming clearer

in their mind boggling intensity

part of me thinks this is like playing a violin on steroids.

maybe I need to play that violin

this changes everything

Vo-96

by Vo Inventions

maybe you should have a look at this

this is just part one

start thinking acoustic synthesizer

as far as parameters go

so I am thinking even harmonics

odd harmonics

a combination of both

note duration so you can control release/decay (we quibble over terms)

add harmonic blending ability

after all that there is discussion of a more "guitar like' sound

hey! wake up! you are on new guitar design! behave accordingly! nowadays I want a guitar to sound more like what I can't imagine. like this design.

then we have harmonic sequencing/arpeggiation

it's the potential of what I really don't understand about this that really excites me.

an (insert name brand sustainer here) on steroids

plus this is early days. I would love to have the ability to change the harmonic sequences

just subscribe to Vo Inventions

it's what they haven't built that scares me

as per usual, I have barely scratched the surface
